TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

Project Manager - Complex Bridges: This is a Management level Professional Engineer position that requires the ability to plan, organize, and control/handle at least four significant projects simultaneously.

Examples of the types of projects are: Bridges and grade separations serving, vehicles, pedestrians and railroads; large land development projects which include bridge or structural features; retaining walls and noise barriers; bridge safety inspections, and project scoping.
Must have familiarity of highway transportation projects and MDOT requirements.
Must have working knowledge and familiarity with bridge design-related software applications.
Must be able to supervise other Project Engineers and members of design teams up to eight people.
Quality control in all aspects of the bridge design.
Estimate fees, determine scope of work, prepare proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects.
Helping to maintain solid client relations; satisfy client requirements.

Majors/Concentrations: Civil Engineering
Degree Level(s): Bachelor of Science

Engineer III - Highways: SDA is looking for an outstanding highway design engineer with at least three (3) years of practical experience in Microstation V8, GeoPak, MS Excel and Word, Adobe PDF Writer, SAPW and/or MERL; AutoCad experience a plus. This individual must be familiar with MDOT/AASHTO/FHWA standards and will be a resource to others throughout the company. Projects will include challenging freeway and roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction and local street improvement programs. The successful candidate must be familiar with drainage design, construction staging, writing special provisions, generating engineering estimates, and MDOT design practices. Must have a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering; a plan toward acquiring your P.E. is helpful.

PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT

Civil Engineer: Staff engineer position to serve national clients in pavement management and infrastructure management group. Position includes performing site evaluations, preparation of report to establish short- and long-term capital program to maintaining client facilities.

This position requires a very flexible individual who has very diverse capabilities. Extensive travel may be required, and significant time commitment is required during peak periods.
Experience as a co-op/intern or one year of experience after graduation is considered essential for fulfiling minimum needs for this position.

Degree Level(s): Bachelor of Science

Civil Engineering Student/Interns: Three openings for summer interns to work within our Pavement Management group. Work will include performing basic AutoCad drawing, soil/ pavement sampling, site observation, performing engineering calculations, preparing and assembling proposals, reports, and other documents.

Majors/Concentrations: Civil Engineering Technology
Degree Level(s): Current Student, Associate, Bachelor of Science
