Thomas J. Sovel, PE

Tom has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, starting with transportation projects and municipal engineering before working on land development projects. In his current position as Senior Land Development Project Manager, Tom provides oversight for all planning and design involved with land development, ranging from simple pavement repairs to new developments. Tom earned his degree from Michigan State University and is a licensed professional engineer in 39 states and Washington DC.

A member of the Spalding DeDecker team since 1988, Tom has had a front-row seat to the growth and changes that have taken place at Spalding DeDecker over the past 29 plus years. When asked what his favorite thing is about working at Spalding DeDecker, he stated, “I enjoy the professionalism and being able to work with a staff that is dedicated to success in all that we do.”

During his spare time, Tom enjoys going up north as often as possible -especially during the summer! He has recently gotten back into downhill skiing after a 25-year break, and has been able to travel to Colorado and Whistler, British Columbia for ski trips.  He also enjoys traveling as often as possible with his wife Jackie.
